Imam Hussain Holy Shrine prepares to launch the sixteenth Rabi’ Al-Shahada International Cultural Festival in Karbala

The Holy Shrine of Imam Hussain announced the completion of its special preparations for the establishment of the Rabi’ Al-Shahada International Cultural Festival in its sixteenth edition, which will be held on the third of the holy month of Shabaan on the birth anniversary of Imam Hussain and his brother Al-Abbas (peace be upon them) in Karbala.

Ali Kadhim Sultan, a member of the festival’s preparatory committee, said, "The festival will witness the participation of world-renowned religious and academic speakers from more than forty Arab and foreign countries."

He added, "The five-day festival includes a set of events and various programs such as scientific research sessions and an international book fair, in addition to Quranic forums, and an award ceremony to honor Iraqi creators from inside and outside Iraq who have contributed to achievements that serve humanity."

The festival’s preparatory committee member explained that there are great benefits from this festival, including informing the world of the personalities of Imam Hussain and his brother Abu Al-Fadhl Al-Abbas (peace be upon them) and their human values, and that it represents an international interfaith event through the participation of the monotheistic religions and Islamic sects.”

Sultan pointed out that the festival succeeded in previous years in conveying the concepts launched by the Supreme Religious Authority, Grand Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Al-Sistani, regarding peaceful coexistence in Iraq and the world.
