Turkish scholarly delegation in Karbala: The reality is far apart from what is reported by the media
In coordination with the International Media Center, a delegation consisting of 16 Turkish senior Sunni scholars visited Imam Hussain Holy Shrine with the aim of rapprochement between sects, rejecting sectarianism, and examining the heritage and intellectual landmarks of the Ahlulbayt, peace be upon them, in Karbala, and other shrines in the country.
The head of the delegation, Sheikh Jafar Darbandi, said, "This scholarly delegation is one of the leading scholars of the Sunnis in Turkey and lovers of the Ahlulbayt, peace be upon them, and it is honored to visit the holy shrines of Imams and companions in Iraq for the sake of rapprochement between sects and the rejection of sectarianism and examination of the religious, intellectual and cultural heritage of the Ahlulbayt."
Sheikh Darbandi added, “The delegation was eager to visit the holy shrines in Iraq, but was afraid of what was reported by the malicious media that distort and falsify the facts, however, this visit proved to us that the reality is completely the opposite. We feel as if we are among our family."
The delegation consisted of sixteen people, all of whom are senior Sunni scholars in Turkey, as it has been decided to visit the holy shrines of the Imams and the companions in the Iraqi provinces of Baghdad, Karbala, Najaf, Basra and others.
