“We were honored to visit the holy city of Karbala and the two holy shrines of Imam Hussain and his brother Al-Abbas (peace be upon them). We met with the representative of the Supreme Religious Authority, His Eminence Sheikh Abdul-Mahdi Al-Karbalaey and discussed the existing opportunities for cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, its missions and embassies around the world, and the holy shrines in Iraq,” said Dr. Al-Alawi.

The undersecretary indicated that the ministry is working to facilitate the issuance of visas, especially for pilgrims to the holy shrines from outside Iraq.

“Cooperation between the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs exists, and we find the need to continue this cooperation, as the Holy Shrine has important projects that provide great service to citizens and contribute to achieving the goals of sustainable development, in addition to combating unemployment,” Dr. Al-Alawi added.
