Ashura commemorations around the world

Ashura ceremonies commemorating the painful day of Ashura, which marks the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein, his family and companions (peace be upon them), were organized in many countries of the world.

The ceremonies commemorating this anniversary start from the first day of the month of Muharram, to reach their climax on the tenth day, which witnesses the painful remembrance.

Mourning ceremonies were held in India, Pakistan, Iran, Turkey, Senegal, Mali, Lebanon, Britain, Georgia and Bahrain, as well as all over Iraq, where thousands of people participated in processions and rituals.
