‘Open Mosque’ event at Islamic Association of North Texas

The Islamic Association of North Texas is one of the US mosques inviting neighbors of all backgrounds to attend a mosque open house.

The event is intended to help alleviate Islamophobia, allow people to gain a deeper understanding of the Islamic faith, and create community alliances between Muslim Americans and their neighbors.

Muslim organizations WhyIslam, GainPeace, and the Islamic Association of North Texas are some of the organizations hosting the event.

“Muslims are opening the doors of our mosques to our neighbors to provide them with an opportunity to get to know the Muslim community,” Sabeel Ahmed, GainPeace director, said in a statement. “The current political climate has created an environment of mistrust, and also a curiosity in public to learn more about Islam and these Mosque open houses will educate them and take any questions on Islam.”
