Expansion of the Islamic Art Gallery at the Museum of Houston
The Houston Museum of Fine Arts in the United States is doubling the area of its Islamic art gallery by opening new galleries in early 2023.
The new galleries will display hundreds of other works of art including paintings, manuscripts, ceramics, carpets and metalwork dating back more than 1,000 years.
The museum management says that these works and artifacts will reflect the vastness of Islamic historical lands, including present-day India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, Iran, Iraq, Syria, Turkey, Egypt, Tunisia, Spain and Morocco.
Other artifacts on display in this museum include a Quranic manuscript in Moroccan calligraphy and a Persian silk carpet dating back to the seventeenth century CE.
