International media outlets cover the re-enactment of Ashura
Arab and international media outlets covered powerful scenes from the annual re-enactment of the eternal Battle of al-Taff in Karbala on 680 AD.
The Spanish daily La Verdad stated that “the Shias commemorate, through re-enactment, the battle of Karbala which took place in the year 680 AD between the army of the Umayyad tyrant Yazid I, and a small group of relatives and companions of the grandson of Prophet Muhammad, Imam Hussein ibn Ali, peace be upon him.”
While the international photo website Getty Images displayed some of the scenes of this annual event.
Arab media reported that the re-enactment was held by the famous "Taraf al-Abbasiya" procession in the holy city of Karbala.
