International conference to revive the legacy of Karbala’s scholars at the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussain, peace be upon him

In the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussain, peace be upon him, the activities of the third international conference to revive the legacy of Karbala’s scholars were launched under the title of “Sheikh Muhammad Taqi Al-Shirazi: Thought and Leadership,” in the presence of a group of clerics, tribal sheikhs, academics and researchers from several countries.

The Secretary-General of the Holy Shrine, Mr. Hassan Rashid Al-Abaiji, said in his speech, "Reviving the legacy of our scholars and leaders from the religious authorities means reviving the nation's heritage, glory and dignity. Among the giants of our religious authorities is the spiritual leader, the scholar, Sheikh Muhammad Taqi Al-Shirazi, may Allah bless his soul. The scholar was born in the city of Shiraz and led the great Iraqi revolution, the Twentieth Revolution. He gave religion and sect the highest priority in his life, devoted all his efforts, harnessed all his material capabilities, sacrificed himself and his children in order to defend religion away from ethnic and sectarian affiliations, and called to reject sedition, defend religion, the homeland, and the sanctities, and he led the revolution. With that rare courage, and with all those responsibilities, he carried people's concerns in his heart and met their needs, and it was a unique case of his courage, piety, asceticism, perfection, piety, and leadership.”

Al-Abaiji added, "Sheikh Muhammad Taqi al-Shirazi became the supreme authority in Karbala at a crucial stage in the history of Iraq by directing the revolutionaries, charting the paths of the revolution, mobilizing it and raising its morale.”

He continued, "He was distinguished by rare qualities, and in addition to his work, he was a role model for the Muslim man who follows the Ahlulbayt (peace be upon them) in secret and in public, and he combined knowledge in his life with work, and that what was said about him by historians and political, religious and national personalities who lived during his time.”

The conference’s activities included the presentation of a documentary film about the late Sheikh Muhammad Taqi Al-Shirazi, and research sessions with the participation of researchers from inside and outside Iraq.
