Imam Hussain Holy Shrine to open five centers for the deaf in several Iraqi provinces

The Chief Cleric of Imam Hussain Holy Shrine has directed the opening of five branches for the deaf segment in several Iraqi provinces, in addition to developing a plan to open an educational institute for deaf children.

The director of the Imam Hussein Specialized Center for the Deaf, affiliated with the Holy Shrine, Bassem Al-Atwani, said, " After meeting with a delegation from the deaf community in Iraq, the Chief Cleric of Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, Sheikh Abdul Mahdi Al-Karbalaey, directed those in charge of the Center to work on developing the deaf community’s skills and talents, support them with various educational means, and work to invest their energies and talents so that society can benefit from it.”

He explained, "A specialized and advanced center will soon be established in the holy province of Karbala to care and rehabilitate them, in addition to the opening of five new integrated and advanced centers in a number of Iraqi provinces affiliated with the Imam Hussein Specialized Center for the Deaf."

Al-Atwani added, "The center has an integrated plan to set goals and visions for developing its work and establishing an educational institute for deaf children."
