Reconstruction work continues on ‘Maqam of Imam Zain al-Abideen’ in Mosul

Work continues on the project of reconstructing the site or ‘Maqam’ of Imam Zain al-Abideen, peace be upon him, under the supervision of the Shia Endowment Bureau in Mosul, after it was destroyed by ISIS terrorists.

Basem al-Bayati, director of the Shia Endowment Department in Mosul, said in a statement, "The site is located in the village of Ali Resh, east of Mosul, and is one of the most important Islamic landmarks in the Nineveh Plain. The building area is 1800 square meters, and work is underway to complete the reconstruction.”

Eng. Abbas Zainal, the project manager, explained that "the designs used are in accordance with the modern and distinctive Islamic style used in the holy shrines; the ceiling height will be 4.2 meters covered with Turkish and Indian marble, in addition to mirror-work and inscriptions that will cover the entire interior area. The facade will be covered with Karbalaey tiles.”
