The largest academic project for orphans in Iraq opens next school year

The Engineering and Technical Projects Department of Imam Hussain Holy Shrine is building a one-of-a-kind schools complex for orphans in Karbala.

Project manager, Engineer Mahdi Falahi, said, "The construction works continue in the country’s largest schools complex located in the al-Salam Quarter, west of Karbala, which is being implemented by Imam Hussain Holy Shrine and dedicated to the segment of orphans."

The complex consists of six school buildings, three for boys and three for girls, each including elementary, intermediate and secondary grades, with a total area of five hectares.

“In addition to the school buildings, there will be a kindergarten, nursery, administrative building, clinic, library, laboratories, sports halls and a multi-purpose indoor playground," Falahi added.

The approximate completion rate of the project has reached 40% and it is hoped that the complex will start receiving students next school year (2021-2022).
