The Supreme Religious Authority’s gift to the people of Mosul

Amid a great welcome from dignitaries and residents of Mosul, and in the presence of the ministers of health and industry, Imam Hussain Holy Shrine inaugurated the 15th al-Shifaa Medical Center in Bertella district in Nineveh province (Mosul).

"We congratulate our people in the province of Nineveh for the opening of al-Shifaa Center, which was established by Imam Hussain Holy Shrine with a capacity of 125 beds, in cooperation with the Ministry of Health and the Nineveh Health Department," said the head of Imam Hussain Holy Shrine delegation, Hajj Fadhel Awaz.

The 15th al-Shifaa Medical Center, which is the first in the district, will offer a wide range of medical services that meet the highest medical standards, such as surgical and maternity wards.

Head of the Engineering Projects Department, Engineer Hussein Redha Mahdi, said, “Following the directives of the Supreme Religious Authority’s representative, Sheikh Abdul-Mahdi al-Karbalaey, and within the project to establish al-Shifaa medical centers in all Iraqi provinces, we are proud to announce the opening of the 15th center in Bertella, Nineveh.”  

Mahdi pointed out that the initial goal was to establish a medical center to treat Covid-19 patients, but after repeated pleas from the tribal sheikhs and people of the district that there was no hospital, Imam Hussain Holy Shrine converted the project into an integrated hospital that provides emergency services, treatment to Covid-19 patients, in addition to surgical and maternity wards.

The Iraqi Minister of Health Dr. Hassan al-Tamimi, spoke to the International Media Center (IMC) saying, “Today, we inaugurate al-Shifaa Medical Center in the province of Mosul, which is the fifteenth in Iraq, within the health project adopted by Imam Hussain Holy Shrine."

Al-Tamimi added, "We extend our thanks and appreciation to the Supreme Religious Authority, the Holy Shrine administration for their efforts to support the health sector in all Iraqi provinces.”

The Iraqi Minister of Industry Manhal Aziz al-Khabbaz said, "The completion of such important health projects consolidates solidarity and joint cooperation amongst all Iraqi sects.”

The total area of the hospital is 5500 square meters, while the building area is 2200 square meters, with a bed capacity of 125 beds.
