Psychological rehabilitation program for the blind women in Iraq

The Family Counseling Center in the holy city of Najaf, which is affiliated with Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, launched a psychological rehabilitation program under the name of ‘Rayaheen’, dedicated to blind women.

The center's journalist and psychological counselor, Ghufran Rahim, said, “The Family Counseling Center supervises the psychological rehabilitation course ‘Rayaheen’ for the blind women in all Iraqi provinces.”

Sixty women participated in the five-day program, which is held in cooperation with the Kuwaiti international trainer Hassan Qanbar.

The first lecture, presented by the counselor Rehab Mahdi, talked about ‘Self-image and its impact on personality’, in which she dealt with the concept of self-image, its importance and how to change it through correct psychological methods to change negative beliefs about the self.

The second lecture, titled ‘Psychological Entitlement and its Relation to Self-Destruction’, shed light on the most prominent symptoms resulting from low self-worth, in addition to exercises and applied strategies to raise the entitlement.

The Family Counseling Center of Imam Hussain Holy Shrine has a series of family and counseling programs – educational and awareness-raising – all aiming to build the family psychologically, religiously and socially.
