Karbala revives the rituals of Imam Hussein while adhering to the health guidelines

The head of the Department of Husseini Rituals and Processions, Riyadh Salman, confirmed the department's full preparations to revive the rituals and receive mourners during the month of Muharram in the city of Karbala.

“The Department of Husseini Rituals and Processions began receiving, documenting and recording the mourning processions in coordination with the Karbala Police Department under strict preventive measures in order to protect the lives of pilgrims from Covid-19 pandemic,” Salman told the International Media Center.

“Signals were positioned at the place of entry of mourning processions to guide the way and prevent crowdedness, in addition to an emphasis on wearing masks and disinfection, as well as limiting the procession’s presence inside the holy shrine to 15 minutes to avoid gatherings.”

This year, around 1500 mourning processions from all Iraqi provinces will take part in the revival of Ashura.
